Ormond Uniting Church

BMC Demolition was contracted for the full demolition of the Ormond Uniting Church, a long-standing structure in the community. The project involved the careful dismantling of the church building while preserving and recycling materials where possible. We were responsible for the complete removal of the structure, debris clearance, and preparation of the site for future redevelopment.

Project Scope:
Challenges:
  • Preserve the church’s historical and sentimental value during demolition by coordinating with stakeholders for the possible salvage of key architectural elements.
  • Ensuring minimal disruption to the surrounding residential area, given the church’s location in a busy neighbourhood.
  • Managing the removal of any hazardous materials found within the aging structure, including asbestos and lead-based paint.
Our Approach:
  • Worked closely with local authorities and stakeholders to identify and preserve any valuable architectural elements for potential reuse or donation to the community.
  • Scheduled demolition activities to minimise noise and disruption to the nearby residences, including the use of noise-suppression techniques.
  • Followed stringent safety protocols for the handling and disposal of hazardous materials, ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
  • Employed recycling strategies to recover as much material as possible, contributing to the sustainability goals of the project.
Outcome:

The Ormond Uniting Church was demolished efficiently and with care. Community concerns were addressed throughout the process. The site was cleared and prepared for its next phase of development, with a portion of the building’s materials recycled or salvaged for reuse. The project was completed on time, adhering to all safety and environmental guidelines.
